Rodman, i was in the Army for a number of years man. It is not as bad as you always make it out to be. Yes i was deployed around the world 80% of my Army life, but even then you work 10-11 hour days and the other 13-14 hours are yours. After a few years you should get use to it. Every now and then you will have Staff duty, unless you are a broken soldier then you will have it more because you do not have anything else to do. I am pretty sure it has not changed that much in the few years i have been out. When i was in i played CCG and CMGs like 4 or 5 nites a week when i was not deployed. So their is plenty of time for it.
I'm closing in on 4 years in the Army so far. As for deployment, I wish I only had 11 hour work days. I was up at 0400 for PT and working by 0600. I didn't get off of work till around 2100. By the time I was done showering/cleaning, I was in bed by 2300 and starting the cycle all over again, for 15 months. As for now, I still have to get up about 0600 for PT and I'm working till about 1700-1800 if nothing prevents us from getting off of work. After that, I still have barracks clean up and soldiers that I have to check on due to extenuating circumstances. As for Duty, I usually get slotted for it at least 3 times a month, sometimes back to back. Main reason why we get slotted for Duty so much is there are only about 100 of us in HHC in total. One unit is deployed and the another is deactivating so they are not slotted for any duties. So as for time to myself, when I jump online around 2000 to get ready for raids on Tue-Thu, that's usually the time that I am first able to do stuff. So unfortunately, I do not get a whole lot of time, but that could just be due to the fact that this unit is full of a bunch of ass-hats and retards.
