The Dark Tower
The time had finally come; after a long, grueling campaign across Northrend, where thousands of lives had been lost or risen into undeath, the final goal was in sight. After all the planning, the preparing, and the utmost devotion to a cause many believed to be lost, the ultimate battle against the Lich King and his Scourge was at hand.

Tirion Fordring assembled the full might of the Argent Crusade and the Knights of the Ebon Blade on the doorstep of Icecrown Citadel and smashed their way into the Lich King's stronghold. It wasn't long before the undead legions began to attack the base camp of the Ashen Verdict, a new coalition of the Argent Crusade and Ebon Blade's most skilled craftsmen. The Ashen Verdict's goal was to mix ancient knowledge with the materials of the enemy to create powerful weapons and armor to help the cause.

Trial of the Grand Crusader - Hurting the Horde or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Zerg
The bizarreness continued and once more we found ourselves in the alterna-arena of the Crusade. Once more, Garrosh got his panties in a bunch and challenged the Alliance to a brawl. We did our best to battle the Horde's champions, trying many different strategies that, while good, were just too ambitious for what was needed. The one that finally worked was simple enough; KILL EM ALL like a cleave-comp in 3's. Once their DPS dropped, the healers were living on borrowed time and we won cash & prizes.

Trial of the Grand Crusader - Deader Demon
Having won the first (or sixth) challenge the Coliseum had to offer, we saw Wilfred Fizzlebang summon Lord Jarraxus again and be murdered just as humorously. Then we fought him.

The portals and volcanoes had their own health bars, there were 2 sisters instead of 1, and the fire hurt more. But we won again.

Trial of the Grand Crusader - Badder Beasts
Having successfully escaped the Lich King's trap with the defeat of Anub'Arak, we took the Argent Crusade portal back to the tournament grounds...

...or so we thought? It was actually a portal to a parallel dimension where the Trial had not yet been defeated, and oh yeah, everything was more difficult. Like in that show "Sliders" but with 100% less Jerry O'Connel and guy that played Gimli the dwarf. Or else the portal took us back in time like that game "Chrono-Trigger" and it was set to Hard mode.

Whatever, I don't care. We beat up the Beasts of Northrend again with basically no time to rest in between, it was alot more damage, and we got no speed boosts on Icehowl.

Conquering the Coliseum - It was merely a setback...
With the death of the Val'kyr twins, we had finally reached the end of the Trial of the Crusader and dealt a huge blow to the Scourge. The Alliance fans were on their feet and giving rousing applause while the Horde still felt the bitter sting of their champions' defeat. However, in our celebration we had forgotten one of the most timeless adages - pride comes before a fall.

As Tirion Fordring was giving us his congratulations, the Lich King himself appeared. He had come alone and Tirion, seeing that his foe was outnumbered by the leaders of the Alliance, Horde and the entire Argent Crusade, ordered Arthas to lay down Frostmourne and surrender. Yet Arthas had come with a single purpose; he knew that the old Nerubian kingdom still stretched for miles under Icecrown, and used his power to shatter the coliseum floor, sending us into the dark depths below. There, we came face-to-face with none other than Anub'Arak, risen into undeath once more to fight for his master.

We attacked the crypt lord and saw that he had grown stronger; he still burrowed underground and sent huge spikes out to skewer us and had a host of undead nerubians and scarabs at his command. However, we were able to use piles of frozen permafrost to block the deadly spikes. He also had tremendous powers of frost that he used to devastating effect. Slowly but surely we began to overcome his defenses until he went into a full rage, increasing the efficiency of the insect swarm that was sapping the life from our entire raid. It would not be enough, and we succeeded in killing Anub'Arak, hopefully for good this time. Tirion and one of the Argent mages followed us down the pit and after the Highlord congratulated us again for surviving the trap, the mage opened a portal for our escape.

Due to a bug with the encounter, we didn't kill this boss until Thursday but the pic can be found in our Gallery!
