Having achieved another victory at Hyjal, we decided to return to the Black Temple. Beyond the door that was previously guarded by Supremus lay the center of the Temple. The area was patrolled by groups of demons and Broken still under Illidan's command. We fought our way through many of them, and discovered a group of the Ashtongue Deathsworn on the far side. They told us the truth about Akama; that Illidan had removed his very soul and kept it enslaved through dark magic. Akama had gone to retrieve it, so we went to assist him.
More Broken were patrolling through the chamber where the Shade of Akama was kept. After clearing them out, only the casters that held control of the Shade remained. We started our attack, picking them off one by one. However, more Broken rushed into the chamber, some trying to kill us and some trying to reinforce the spell that kept the Shade banished. It wasn't long, though, before there were no more Broken left alive to continue the ritual. The Shade broke free, and moved slowly towards Akama, ready to destroy its corporeal half. We finished off the last of the guards just as Akama engaged his tainted soul in combat. With our help, the Shade couldn't withstand him and was defeated. Exhausted but relieved, Akama used Winterchill's phylactery to capture his soul and return it to his body. He then issued a proclamation, calling for all Broken to relinquish their service to Illidan, and join him in his coup. Many Broken entered and knelt before their commander, once again pledging their loyalty to Akama. Despite the tremendous victory, the Ashtongue Deathsworn had no idea what became of Maiev and they were going to make their final move without her. Akama offered to open the door that led to Illidan's sanctum, but we had to totally decimate the Black Temple's remaining legions to get there, so we prepared to hunt down his remaining lieutenants, wherever they dwelled. Another dead demon, Kaz'rogal down!
Slane Baanrit returned to the Battle of Mount Hyjal again last night, finding ourselves in the middle of the Horde encampment. With the retreat of Jaina's troops, the task of stalling the Legion's onslaught fell to the orcs, trolls, and taurens under Thrall's command. And we were ready to continue our support.
We dealt with the usual mix of Scourge ground troops, but then we found ourselves flanked by squadrons of gargoyles coming from the hills to the north. Not only that, but the occasional frost wyrm came with them, exhaling streams of deadly frost at our casters. We barely had time to recover after eight waves of attacks when a doomguard commander known as Kaz'rogal stormed into the base. Thrall and his forces joined with us in trying to bring the demon down, but his war stomps and cripple spells slowed us down. Despite running low on mana, we continued the fight, and managed to kill Kaz'rogal! Check out the pic in our Gallery. Posted on 14 Mar 2008 by Bretac
Supremus, volcanus eruptus
Having made our way to the Black Temple's front courtyard, we found it crawling with fel orcs of the Dragonmaw clan. Their warriors walked the grounds, accompanied by nether drake-mounted casters. To the sides, fel orc workers from the Bonechewer clan were building and repairing all manner of siege weapons. And in the sky, squadrons of nether drakes and pilots practiced their combat maneuvers.
We moved our way through the courtyard, killing every fel orc we came across, weakening Illidan's army. However, at the far end, guarding the entrance to the Black Temple's interior was an infernal juggernaught called Supremus. There was nowhere to go but through him, so we attacked. The fight was going well, but just when we started to make some progress, it switched tactics, picking a new target at random and chasing the unlucky victim around the area. Fortunantly for us, it didn't move very fast. What its movements did do, however, was force the ground to crack open, creating miniature volcanoes that shot out balls of lava in all directions. After it got tired of chasing us around, it went back to attempting to smash us to pieces. Eventually though, we destroyed Supremus and breached further into the Temple interior. A photo of us standing over the remains of Illidan's bouncer can be seen in the Gallery. Posted on 13 Mar 2008 by Bretac
Nagas, elementals, dragon turtles, but no ninja turtles...
The time had come for us to invade the halls of the Black Temple. Unfortunantly, due the previous attempts of Doomwalker to break in, the front gate was locked and reinforced. Luckily for us, there was a crack in the outer wall's foundation that led into the sewer system, the same one that Vashj led her naga through during Illidan's coup against Magtheridon.
Some of those naga remained, and were led by High Warlord Naj'entus. The naga commander towered over everyone, and his skin pulsed with a reddish hue, possibly a sign of having ingested demon blood. We prepared ourselves for the battle ahead, and charged at the monstrosity. His deadliest attack was made by hurling spines ripped from his own armor at us. And when we started to put the hurt on him, he encased himself in a shell of pure water magic, making him totally immune...except to his own weapon. By hurling the same spines he hurled at us, we broke the shell and continued the assault. Despite a few deaths, we defeated him, then made our way up a drain pipe and emerged at the Temple's front courtyard. Check out a pic of another dead naga in our Gallery. Don't fear the Rea...I mean, dreadlord
Last night, Slane Baanrit bent the laws of quantam physics again by returning to the Battle of Mount Hyjal. We returned to the moment just after Winterchill had fallen, and prepared ourselves for the next assault of the Burning Legion and their undead lackeys.
After a constant, relentless assault from the enemy, which now included banshees, we healed our wounds and prepared for the worst. It wasn't long before that came, in the form of a powerful dreadlord named Anetheron. Like all his counterparts, he had tremendous control of fel magic, including the ability to put many of us to sleep and summon an infernal bodyguard. The situation was dire, but with the help of the Alliance forces, we succeeding in sending Anetheron back to the darkest corner of the Twisting Nether. We were victorious again, another testament to the determination and prowess of our guild! Although the day was won, the Alliance base could not be salvaged. Jaina teleported her surviving troops to safety, leaving us to continue the battle some time in the future...which would still technically be in the past. Damn you, time travel!
