Illidan's greatest lieutenants had been dealt with, but he sat comfortably in his Black Temple, unaware of the plot his final lieutenant, Akama, was brewing in the halls below the Warden's Cage. If we were to help him achieve entry into the Black Temple, we had to fulfill the task he gave us before; to travel back through time and steal the phylactery of a powerful lich at the Battle of Mount Hyjal.
Having given the vials of the Well of Eternity to Soridormi, the dragon was able to focus the magic found within, thus stabilizing the time portal that led to the epic battle. After crossing the threshold, we found ourselves in the Alliance base, surrounded by a ragtag group of knights, magisters and dwarven riflemen, all led by Lady Jaina Proudmoore. However, it wasn't long before undead troops under the command of Archimonde began to swarm into the base. We fought through many waves of foul creatures like abominations, ghouls, and necromancers. Finally, unhappy with the failure of his troops, the lich named Rage Winterchill arrived to destroy us himself. Like all liches, his control over frost and shadow magic was devastating, but with the combined efforts of our group and Jaina's troops, we destroyed the vile lich. With the phylactery in hand, we returned to Akama, who was ready to enact his plan. He coordinated his efforts with a branch of the Sha'tar stationed outside the Black Temple's gates, led by a naaru known as Xi'ri. After the naaru imbued his soldiers with essence of the Light, they charged forward into a brigade of dreadlords sent to protect the gates. The Sha'tar fought bravely, but were being slaughtered by the dreadlords and their commander, Vagath. However, Akama and Maiev Shadowsong arrived, leading a group of Broken warriors. They killed all the dreadlords, to prevent them from reporting of Akama's betrayal to Illidan. With his dying breath, Vagath warned Akama that his days were now numbered, and while he contemplated the path he had set himself and his Ashtongue on, Maiev secretly entered the Black Temple to seek her revenge on Illidan. The Ashtongue soon followed her, and we were bestowed the Medallion of Karabor, an artifact that would help us enter the Temple and continue the fight. Anyway, check out a pic in our Gallery of General Merran addressing her troops on a green metal chicken after slaying Winterchill. Posted on 21 Feb 2008 by Bretac
See ya at the Sunwell, Kael!
Although Lady Vashj had fallen, an even greater battle was just over the horizon for Slane Baanrit. Prince Kael'thas, the royal heir of Silvermoon and leader of the Sunfury blood elves, still held domination over Netherstorm and other parts of Outland. The master magician who was once Illidan's most loyal convert had betrayed the Betrayer, pledging his loyalty to the one entity that could make Illidan know fear; the demonlord Kil'jaeden.
After weeks of perfecting our strategies, we charged into Tempest Keep last night with an unleashed fury and steadfast determination. The mad prince sent his advisors at us, but one by one they fell at our feet. Then we used Kael's own weapons against him. In a final act of desperation, he shattered the roof of Tempest Keep, exposing it to the turbulent skies above, from which he harvested powerful nether energy. With this magic, he sent us all into the air, defying gravity as we fought for our lives. Only it was his life that came to an end, not ours. Kael'thas was defeated! ...or so we thought. After celebrating our victory and returning to A'dal with the good news, the voice of the fallen prince echoed throughout the Terrace of Light. Kael'thas had endured, a vision of him appearing before us, mocking our supposed triumph. He claimed to have collected all the energy he needed from his manaforges, and that soon his dark master would arrive. If Kil'jaeden breached the barrier into the mortal world, it would spell doom for all. While the Sha'tar were left to deal with the startling revelation, the warriors of Slane Baanrit traveled to the Caverns of Time...we had unfinished business there, setting us on the final path towards the Black Temple. Ding dong, the sea witch is dead!
Our war against Illidan achieved an incredible victory last night. We had slashed and bashed our way through countless naga for weeks now, and finally Lady Vashj was left alone, cut off from her precious Illidan or anyone else that could come to her aid.
But that's not to say she didn't put up a good fight. A veteran of battles against the Scourge, the Burning Legion, and the night elves she once belonged to, Vashj knew how to fight, and use her considerable archery training for maximum, deadly efficiency. She also summoned a pack of her most loyal guards and creatures to protect her. For nearly half an hour we battled it out, trying to deactivate the magical barriers that prevented her much-deserved death. Finally, though, we brought them down and she retaliated with a desperate vengeance. She also had about three dozen spore bats in reserve that coated the ground with a sea of toxic sludge. Many died in this final phase, but our determination could not be stopped. With one final blow, the commander of the Outland naga was no more! Soon we will bring the fight to Illidan in his Black Temple, but first we must eliminate Prince Kael'thas, his former right-hand man and now hated enemy, and the newest recruit of the insidious Kil'jaeden... The voodoo that we do...
Recently, the Amani empire of forest trolls had resurfaced, led by the warlord Zul'jin, a veteran of the Second War. Most governments on Azeroth were unaware or ignorant of this threat, leaving the task of saving the day to once again fall upon the shoulders of the average citizenry.
The members of Slane Baanrit, ever the seekers of fame and fortune...I mean, seekers of justice and truth!...had gotten involved with a group of explorers and made brief forays into the city of Zul'Aman. Though our efforts to destroy the avatars of their animal gods had proved successful thus far, we never managed to destroy the puppet masters behind it all, Hex Lord Malacress and Zul'jin, until now. First, the Hex Lord attempted to use our own powers against us, but we defeated him. Then, it was time for the big man himself (and I do mean big; Shaq ain't got nothing on ZJ). He channeled the powers of the animal gods to destroy us, but like Rend Blackhand and Kargath Bladefist, another legend of the Second War died at our feet! Zul'jin was no more! Here's hoping we see more ZA runs in the near future, and maybe we can add a certain snake-haired legend of the Third War to our kill sheet... Check out the Zul'jin pic in our Gallery. Rage against the machine
Although our battles against the forces of Kael and Vashj still continue, the members of Slane Baanrit decided to do something charitable for Illidan last night...in the spirit of the holidays or whatever.
To that end, we protected the crazy tattoo'd one from the giant fel reaver known as Doomwalker, sent by Kil'jaeden to break open the doors of the Black Temple. The machine that doth quote Robocop proved to be quite a challenge, and scores of us died to his devastating attacks. However, with only a handful of people left alive, we still managed to destroy the construct and collect a couple of spiffy helmets. Then to piss off the Legion even more, we went and killed Magtheridon, too. Check out our pic in the Gallery. Posted on 14 Dec 2007 by Bretac
